Platform 8
Rosario Hurtado and Gabi Klasmer

The ambition of Platform 8 is to create a strong community of students in search of new ways to understand design. We encourage a debating culture that will question the position of design between its traditions and aspirations. Taking into account the conditions under which we operate, we seek ultimately to gain knowledge, expertise and clarity of vision.

Platform 10
Roberto Feo and Guests

Design is about making future change a part of the present.
Platform 10 guides its projects through a process of conceptualising change and designing products that demonstrate alternatives to existing typologies and solutions.
Our design approach is characterised by a thoughtful exploration of sources combining imagination with anticipation. With a strong social bias, curiosity for technology and an appreciation of cultural insights the platform supports designers that are interested in extrapolating from their personal world into the universal. The key interest of the platform is in designs that challenge paradigms.

Platform 13
Onkar Kular and Sebastien Noel

Platform 13 starts from the premise that our current global society, with its prevailing techno-political system, faces challenges of an unprecedented scale.
We are asking ourselves how design can contribute to alternative models of living and production by engaging with, commenting on, and addressing issues currently beyond the usual scope of design - political, social, technological or ecological. We are exploring the potential of creating tangible objects or interventions which impact at a social or behavioural level, by engaging with new methods of production and dissemination.

Platform 14
Andre Klauser and Ben Wilson

This platform aspires to explore the intersection of function, beauty and intelligence in design. We investigate how products are conceived, made, traded and most of all how they are used. We are most interested in design that offers a practical contribution to our lives, and gains its relevance through performance and use.
We believe that usefulness should never be subservient to self-expression. We oppose design that is simply in the service of media impact and that cannot live beyond magazines or websites. This trend has become the mainstream and we cast ourselves as reactionaries against it. We value images as integral to communication, not merely as empty visual stimulation. Our arena is the world of products with all its extremes and banalities, its familiarities and unknowns. We want to explore this landscape with the spirit of an entrepreneur. We believe there are ample opportunities off the well-trodden paths of design and we are out to explore them. We embrace production on its various levels and we are curious to interact with industry. Our process is underpinned by intellectual rigour and directed research.

Platform 15
Sebastian wrong and Harry Richardson

Platform 15 is for students who are both thinkers and makers. It is for students who wish to develop and express a strong view point and conceptual perspective through their work while placing equal emphasis on a high resolution of design and production.

Platform 15 promotes an open minded definition of design, embracing the plurality of our industry; it will encourage compelling intellectual arguments, imaginative solutions and a clarity of purpose and intent.

Platform 15 encourages students to find their confidence, to directly explore materials by way of process and to design for production. It focuses on the subtle essence of objects and an understanding of their context, requiring a strong interest in visual culture and aesthetics, so as to create design of relevance, worth and beauty.

Platform 17 circles around the complex world of consumer electronics. We look at all major factors of the industry, from the consumer to the manufacturer, from logistics to retail, from superbrands to single experiments. The platform's projects are based the multi layered realities of today's mass manufactured electronic products and taking an active stance on how design can make meaningful changes in the future.
